Iranian flag in Space
Won't you feel proud to see the Iranian flag in space for the first time? I was kind of surprised to see Anoosheh Ansari, despite spending most of her life in the States, wearing and flashing an Iranian flag on her space suit. And that's a politically neutral flag, with no pro-monarch or pro-republic emblem in the middle. Simply just Iran! She is now in Moscow preparing to go to space onboard the very reliable Russian Soyuz spacecraft and spend some time onboard the International Space Station.
For the ones who don't know her, Anoosheh Ansari is a telecom entrepreneur and self-made millionnaire. She was born in Iran, and was a sci-fi fan in her childhood. She was the main sponsor for the ANSARI X-PRIZE, an award of £5.2 million ($10 million) to the first private organisation to build and fly a ship that could carry three passengers 100 km into space, return safely to Earth and repeat the launch with the same ship within two weeks, with both flights completed by January 1st, 2005.
She did a great job, she has earned much money, and she spent it for one of her [possibly childhood] dreams. However, I have stopped being proud of those things that I have no influence on it. Many of Iranians have been proud of their history for a long time, but now, you can see the result: at the moment there is almost nothing to be proud of.
Thus, I think she is doing a great job, and I wish she can do it successfully; but I cannot be proud of this event.
(All said, it doesn't mean that I am arguing against you or this post! (: )

In fact, for the exact same reason you mentioned I feel proud. We're used to be proud about things that have happened 2000 years ago, nothing real, nothing sensible. But what Ansari has done is real and contemporary and inspiring. She's a great role model for all of us.

Our nationalism really fascinates me all the time. Most immigrants in the world forget their roots and even try to hide their identities but wherever we come from we always refer to ourselves as Iranians/Persians.

I think that's more of a 'statement' than pure nationalism. Specially when you live in North America for a while you realize that you're discriminated against because of your nationality and your background. The scary shadow of generalization always hovers on your head "She's Iranian, she must be a fanatic backward-minded plutonium-seeking anti-freedom moslem".
Anoosheh's picture challenges all that prejudice. Of course *if* people don't mistake the Iranian flag with the Italian flag!!

I happen to share my forename with Anoosheh Ansari, and I love her vision too (: Unlike most wealthy Iranians I know, she spent a big chunk of her fortune on her dream, a dream which by nature is a very risky business.
The point for me is beyond feeling proud. I can relate to her; she was born and brought up in Iran, and did her higher education outside Iran. If she can be a pioneer in science and technology of such scale, then we all can. Unreachable difficult goals are now reachable and feasible to me, thanks to her vision and action.

بنده هیچ حامی جمهوری اسلامی نیستم. بلکه تنه یک کرد ایرانیم. اما باید عرض کنم که این خانوم هیچ شادیی برای ملت مفلوک ایران نمی آورد . او زمانی با خانوادهاش با میلیاردها دلار ثروت این مملکت فرار کرد. امروز با همین ثروت به عیش و نوش می پردازد. او برای این سفر 9000000000 تومان پرداخته است. این مبلغ خانه بسیاری از ایرانیهای ندار را آباد می کند. آری ایرانی به هیچ جایی نمی رسد چون همه فقط به فکر خود هستند. بترای من آنجلینا جولی بسته های عذا را به دست خود به آفریقایی های بدبخت می دهد بسیار شریفتر از این ایرانی است. میدانید با این پول می توان برای چند بمی خانه ویران سرپنااه ساخت. کجایند فرزندان سعدی که گوید:
بنی آدم اعضای یکدیگرند که در آفرینش ز یک گوهرند.
چو عضوی به درد آورد روزگار دیگر عضوها را نماند قرار. آری اینان اعضای فلجه هستند که بر لاس ناتوان ایرانیان جز سنگینی رنج چیزی نمی افزایند.

با نوشته شما کاملا مخالف هستم. این که شما انوشه انصاری را به دزدی ثروت متهم کردید فقط نشانه بی سوادی و طرز فکر احمقانه شماست. ضمنا قطعا شما از موفقیت شرکت مخابراتی که ایشان تاسیس و سپس فروختند خبر ندارید. ثروت انوشه انصاری بادآورده نیست، همین شبکه اینترنت پر است از گزارش های مختلف در مورد این موضوع که قابل دسترسی هستند.
دوم اینکه هرکسی مالک دارایی خودش است و شما نه حقی دارید نه دلیلی دارید که از مردم انتظار داشته باشید کاری که «شما« فکر میکنید خوب است انجام دهند. اینقدر کوته فکر هستید که ابعاد و مزایای جایزه اکس پرایز خانواده انصاری را برای کل دانش بشر نادیده میگیرید
بجای گیر دادن به انسانهای موفق بهتر است ماتحت مبارک خود را بجنبانید و اگر برای بچه های بمی واقعا ناراحت هستید آستین بالا بزنید و برایشان سرپناه بسازید یا تا ساختن سرپناه چند خانوار را در منزل خود میهمان کنید. از این بیشتر هم آبرو و شرافت مردم کرد را خدشه دار نکنید

سلام به نظر من خانم انوشه انصاري كار بزرگي انجام ميدن كاري كه ممكنه ديگه هيچ ايراني نتونه كه انجام بده...در هر حال نبايد ارزش كار ايشان رو پائين بياريم واسه كاري كه خيلي ها مي تونن بكنن و نمي كنن حتي داخل خود ايران... من هم اين افتخار رو هم به خانم انصاري و هم به همه ايراني هاي عزيز تبريك ميگم ... انشالله كه ايشان در همه كارهاشون موفق باشن

همین چند لحظه پیش شبکه 4 صدا و سیمای ایران حدود نیم ساعت با خانم انوشه انصاری در حالیکه در قرنتینه ایستگاه بایکونور بودند به صورت زنده مصاحبه کرد
شهریار ناشمی هم حضور داشت ولی هیچ راهنمائی خاصی در مورد اینکه چطوری با" همریدیو" میشه با ایشون در حالیکه در فضا هستند و از بالای ایران میگذرن انجام داد نکردند
کسی چیزی میدونه؟

I agree with Kourosh in these following points:
1- If she's indeed related with the famous Ansari's (her husband, Hamid Ansari and her brother Amir Ansari both carry the same last name)then they are not starting from scrath and are capitalizing on the great wealth they made during Shah's time. You know what they say: "Money brings money"! There are thousands of well educated and smart young Iranians inside and outside Iran who never have the chance to get to anywhere for the lack of resources.
2- The $20 million she's spending for this trip is not comming from her pocket but it's a money her husband's company is investing for publicity and is the best advertisement for the company.
3- The only "brave" thing about her act is taking a chance to go on this space trip with it's usual risks.

There are many Iranian families who left iran after revolution with a lot of money. But have you heard from any of them? They have invested in other "more secure" and "less risky" businesses and are living their lives with no worries. Now you have the Ansari family who has invested ** for the first time in history ** in private space travel. That IS a big achievement.

What's with all these people who complain about anything adn everything? Here we have an Iranian who has acoomplished what few have done before her and most of all she proudly proclaims her heritage (unlike others before her like Andre Agassi who even denies being Iranian).
It is rediculous to say that this money could feed so many people in Iran! If we were to think this way we should have no progress, abandon space travel and spend the money on all the hungry people in the world. For that mater we should not have nuclear power, airplane or electricity, just go back to stone ages and just "feed" people with whatever money we have!!!
She is self made, made money in a society that does not simply go and take your house and land in the name of mostazafeen! Good for her and I hope she makes billions more, ta chechmeh hasooda koor she!!!
We now have someone bringing a good name to Iran and Iranians and some are criticizing her. What do you want her to do? Give her money to bunch of moft khors with no ambition? Give her money to hesaabeh sadeh emam?!!! She has every right to spend her money whatever way she likes and noone has the right to criticize her for that.

I agree with Farhad. We can't abandon our life just because the money we spend on lunch and dinner and car and our house can feed hungry people. I'm not saying that we should forget about feeding the needy, but advancing in science and technology and developing the social system of the country are actually two completely separate jobs.
Anousheh Ansari is a hero and a role model for each and every Iranian person.

من هم از اینکه یک ایرانی توانسته سفر فضائی را بدون هیچ مشکلی طی نماید خوشحالم فقط از خانم انصاری خواهش میکنم با اطلاع رسانی کاملشان بفرمایند که زمان ومکان دقیق رفت وبرگشتشان چگونه انتخاب گشته ویا چه سازمانی مسئول این کار میباشد من خودم سفرهای فضائی را بشدت دوست دارم و تا کنون چندین دفعه نیز به فضا رفته ام وهر چند بدون اسیبهای جدی برگشته ام اما بعداز هر سفر چندروزی را میهمان برادران نیروی انتظامی بوده ام در حالی که ایشان چنین مشکلی نداشته اند متشکرم

باسلام من هم این موفقیت بزرگ را به خانم انوشه انصاری تبریک میگویم وعرض میکنم که تفاوت ایشان باامثال من ومیلیون هاجوان ایرانی از جمله مصطفی در4موردخلاصه میشود:اول اینکه مسافرت فضایی ایشان10روزه بوده که بقول بروبچ قصدکرده بوده اندکه اگرهم چنین باشدقبول باشدانشاا...امامسافرت های مامعمولاچندساعته میباشدکه البته فکرمیکنم مربوط میشود به نوع سوخت مصرفی ...دوم اینکه سفرایشان چنان تبلوبوده که تمام دنیادرجریان ان قرارگرفته اماسفرمارافقط اهالی منزل ودرنهایت اهالی محله متوجه میشوند...سوم اینکه سفر ایشان20000000$هزینه دربرداشته که به عقیده بنده بازهم مربوط میشودبه نوع سوخت مصرفی ایشان اماسفرمانهایتا20$...چهارم که بسیاربرای امثال ماوازجمله مصطفی سوال برانگیزبوده نحوه تعامل نیروی انتظامی باایشان میباشدچراکه ایشان بابدرقه این نیروبه فضارفته وبااستقبال گرم حمیداقاهمسرگرامیشان بازگشته اند!!!اما مابابدرقه دوستان واهالی به فضامیرویم وبااستقبال بسیارگرم نیروی انتظامی مواجه میشویم!!!!!!باسپاس
