Mixed feelings
I met an undergraduate electronics student while playing football indoors, from one of the gujeratii immigrant families who moved to Africa, he was born and brought up in Africa, Muslim but with the typical indian looks. He was so amazed at the comments I was making (SIMILAR TO WHAT MOST OF YOU HAVE SAID IN THE PREVIOUS POST: "Why is he taken so seriously") and said to me: Iran is a great country, it's so different, it stands by its words, it faces the west, I love Ahmadinejad, he has to awaken the lame Iranian teenagers who never met Imam Khomeini.
I was wordless, had lots of mixed feelings, "what is he talking about?" "I should be ashamed of myself?" I'd like to know how you guys would react if you were in my place? What would you say to him? More importantly, what would you say to yourself?
I would happily export Ahmadinejad to your friend's beloved country, and will actually try to raise money for it so it could happen as soon as possible :)

I will tell him he does not know anything about living in a religious dictatorship. I will tell him he is extremely ignorant about what he is talking about. I will ask to explain why he is still living in England and why he does not move to the paradise he is so found of.
He can move to Iran, participate in Ashura rituals. Remind him to use dagger for cutting his own head and beat himself to death with chains. He can enroll in a Basij program to arrest people and punish them for being West-toxicated and corrupted --according to his own standards. He can whip people in the streets or arrest people for having private parties. He can even arrest people for holding each other's hands and walking in the streets.
It seems this guy loves to do this type of jobs. He can be a good revolutionary guard for the psychos in charge of the country.

People like this guy are dilettantes. He can praise the Iranian regime from afar, knowing he and his family aren't going to fall victim to its frighteningly repressive tactics. Somebody should tell him to put his money where his mouth is.

I don't understand this concept of being more Muslim and in love with people like Ahmadinejad, for people who have never been to Iran. how I would feel for that guy?Sorry and disappointed that his idol is Ahmadinejad.

But I am not surprised, I face the same comment here in Egypt so much, because as "the other" says they have not had the experience of living in Iran, what I do is I sit and explain as much as I can, most of the time I can convince them but sometimes they have an ideal world in their mind and they won't accept me, the problem is they think Iran is a very strong country who is standing up against all the power of the west, the thing that non of the Arab countries ever did, so this is what they wish for themselves, but I promise if they experience it once they never want it again! Well they don't know what is the price of words of this so-called president for normal ppl in Iran, sit and talk to him! Good luck :)

Unfortunately you have this hate-feeling against Mr Ahmadinejad, because you are abroad of Iran, you are under the negative waves against Mr Ahmadinejad every moment. but unestly he is not such a bad person you think, anyway may be you will post alotof words against me, but i want to tell you, he was elected by the people here and will be respectful in the period of his duty. my question is why Mr Moein or other reformers was not elected? simply because the majority of people in Iran wanted an economic change, and i wish they get what they want. let us all be more co-workers for our country not against our national intrests.

No disrespect to anyone or what they think,Alen why do you think most of the people prefer to leave Iran rather than stay there if they can?Cause they can resist people like Ahmadinejad. And why he was chosen as president was the false promises he gave to people that how he is going to improve the way they live and bring oil money to their doors. But since August,I guess the only thing that he hasn't even considered doing is taking any action about poverty in Iran.I think you need to sit and think clearly and not to take everything people out of Iran say,as a result of lack of knowledge or being bilnded by politicians in the west.We all want what is best for everyone,Freedom.

I'm still not satisfied with the range of voices heard on these pages. My mixed feelings are not sorted out, If ahmadinejad gets us nukes, has he been good to Iran or not?
(at December 23, 2005 05:57 PM)
In my opinion, we should ask ourselves at what price are we really going to get nukes. There's no way that Western countries will allow us to get nukes and to be honest I quite understand them. It's not really about having nukes, it's more about who's having them.
I would personally be afraid if Iran's regime acquires nuclear arms. I'm sure they would use it against us if their survival is at stake, just the way Saddam did.

Think that you people are afraid of accepting the realities. In such a situation, I'd say that I was born in a place, the people of which are suffering from a vicious government. I'd say that my f**king home country is no way a free and democratic country, and would not try to coneal the realities without being ashamed... at the same time, I'd add that I also dislike the governments of UK, US and isreal , etc that are just bullying over other nations. believe it or not, starvation in africa is but a result of indulging in happiness in developed countries... All governments are full of hypocrisy, and I don't give a damn credit to any of them.
(at January 2, 2006 02:33 AM)
Well I'm not sure a "home country" could be a home country if you have a "F...king" written before it Atash. but I do agree with ur point about all governments and fair comment on Africa!

Had to let you know how impressed I am with the level of discourse on these boards. One day, the people of Iran will take their rightful place as world leaders under a just government. Here in America, Persian people make the most of their opportunities and prosper greatly. When the boot is lifted from the neck of the Iranian citizenry there will be no stopping such an extraordinarily talented people.
Best to all,
