Is Saddam going to be fully prosecuted?

Parthisan

I wanted to write a post in the anniversary of Iraq's invasion to Iran in 1981 under Saddam's command, but didn't find enough time. Tonight I came across an article in BBC (English | Persian) about a village in west of Iran, which was chemically bombarded by Saddam's army; a crime as horrible as the one in Halabja but almost never mentioned and kind of forgotten, probably just because the village was smaller.

Although Saddam's war against Iran was clearly the biggest, deadliest and longest of his criminal acts, it is just one of the 12 items for which he's going to be prosecuted, with no extra emphasis on its scale (at least in this stage).

I really hope negotiators from the Iranian government push for receiving compensation for the damages caused to our country and our lives, especially now that Iran has a good number of friends in the new Iraqi government. I believe the war was the single worst thing that happened to Iran in its recent history and if we are to leave the past behind and start a decent relationship with our neighbour we need a fair prosecution of those criminals and compensation for what they've done.

I also agree with the point you raised. It's unbelievable, "Invading Iran" and starting the 8-year war is *NOT* part of Saddam's list of crimes, while Invasion of Kuwait is!!!

What is this all about?

I think we Iranians on the Internet should start organised and coordinated activities to bring this issue to the attention of media.

he will probably not be charged for his crimes against the iranian people, and then you'll understand more and more about the injustice in international politics.

An American directed court, what do you expect?once they sell him weapons to kill Iranians then they will take him to court for crimes against his nation and Kuwaities!Even if they give him death penalty,it won't be fair,he has to suffer as much as possible before he dies.

A few years ago I went to the south western borders of Iran, where the Iraqi ground invasion had started and caused hundreds of thousands of deaths and injuries. It's impossible not to cry when you see what has happened there.

I suggest they create a special zoo, say in the region of Shalamcheh, where thousands of thousands of Iranian young brave men and women have fallen. A special zoo for Saddam, put him there like an animal and open the zoo to public.
