SHOCKED
To be totally honest, I am still in shock and cannot believe my eyes. I can't even go to sleep till this result comes out. I am not a political person but have got a question here: What were the people thinking of in Iran, when they were casting their vote? Are we still the same nation that used to be ahead of most nations around us? Why are we digging a bigger hole for ourselves each time we can take a positive step? Any ideas???? I am still in shock.
I am completely out! I don’t know even what to say. Since early before mid-night, I am sitting at my desk and surfing each single possible news agency one-by-one through the NET again and again… I cannot sleep either… it is just ridicules. I have no answer for any of those questions… either people in Iran have been changed too much or we are the minority!

The biggest problem is that those who voted for him see him as a way out, not as digging a bigger hole. I was chatting with some 20 year old guy who believed Ahmadi Nejad is an independent figure, and not from any particular party!!
Can it get worse? Yes. It's a circular system. They will keep believing this way as long as the information they can get is so severely controlled. And as long as the information channels are controlled, they will continue believing these false beliefs.

i personaly do not believe that this was people's vote. because i live in iran, and i do not know even one person who wanted to vote for this person.

It is abvious that all the channels for information were free and accessible for Iranian people, the WEB,sattlite TVs and foreign radios..if you are not sure, you can ask the insiders. the matter in this voting was excited by something else. some believe that in the voting-day there were some unkown MICROWAVES from space, force the people to vote for Ahmadi-nejad.

Sorry to say this but when I read some of your comments I feel that you guys come from Mars or live in an Utopian society. Wake up fellows, the parliament members were put to office by force and so is the new 'president'. Why is it so difficult for you guys to believe.
Now I hope that you understand the rationale of boycotting the elections. We all know that the vast majority of voters voted for Rafsanjani, if you have any doubts try to find 5 Iranians around you who have voted to 'Ahmaghinejad'.
This was a silent Coup d'etat by the Revolutionary Guards. Our country is now in the hands of the Military. God bless Iran.

Well I didn't vote personally but I do believe that election was full of cheating Do believe that 17 million people did NOT vote for him.
But apart this I am really sorry for who live in Iran and want to deal with this new wave of boycott.
I am still in shock.
I see Dark days ahead.

hi.i just wanna say you are wrong .you have to think why people vote to Ahmadi nejad?
(at June 26, 2005 09:15 AM)
Ahmadinejad got the vote of poor people of Iran. nearly 60% of Iranians living below the line of poverty. therefore, they don't care about Hashemi Rafsanjani's rich friends and all Tehran's bacheh sosools and rich Northern part of city citizens. we have no Idea what Ahmadinejad said in his pre-election Propaganda and as an independent candidate what did he offered to people. I was one of his critics just 12 hours before election. But when I read what he said in his Election campaign, I didn't bother to write or say against him any more. at the moment I am a neutral person that didn't vote for this regime. and I don't believe 8 millions more vote than Hashemi is a reliable figure to believe the theory of cheating in Election. 1-2 million is possible. so, just try to live with it. in 1 previous post before this I predicted Ahmadinejad will be the president, 2 hour after election started. because I read what people said about their vote in BBC. 70% SAID THEY WILL VOTE FOR HIM. I am sorry to say that people vote for him. Nameh tamam...

The platform of social justice, of distributive equity, etc. the very foundation of the Islamic Republic and is what Ahmadinejad represented...this still holds sway in Sharestan. Iranian diaspora and N.Tehraners have a hard time understanding this.
Although personally I know there is no justice in Iran and that the poor will remain poor regardless of who gets elected.
