Welcoming Iran's national football team to west London
London - Queens Park Rangers (QPR) from the English championship table said Wednesday it was delighted at the prospect of welcoming Iran's national football team to west London.
"The Iranian national team will provide Ian Holloway (the club coach) and the team with some real variety in their pre-season preparations and it should be a very high quality fixture," QPR's chief executive Mark Devlin said.
"They are currently ranked 18th in the world and I am sure this game will capture the imagination of supporters and, of course, the local Iranian community," he said.
The match at QPR's Loftus Road Stadium on July 23 is the first of three games Iran has arranged to play during tour and training camp in England ahead of next year's world cup in Germany.
The second game is being held on the following Saturday against QPR's championship table rivals, Millwall, in south-east London.
Millwall finished in the top of the league in 10th place last season, one place ahead of QPR.
The third match arranged is against Portsmouth, in the English premier league a week later on August 6.
