The newly elected mayor of the City of London - Michael Savory - is visiting Iran for an important round of financial talks with the Iranian government, especially regarding Tehran's stock exchange and investment (news in Persian). The visit comes after the Iranian ambassador to London outlined major financial service opportunities in Iran at a briefing at the European-based international bank, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in London last week. The 62-year old alderman was born in Scotland and has spent most of his life in commerce, including as the director and chairman of the HSBC bank.
