At a glance: The first weblog meeting

Lord Provost

So..., the first group meeting of this weblog took place on 19th of April in London, and it was successful. Axe and I were the first people to arrive in the venue, followed by nine other friends including bloggers Aref-Adib, Jay Londoner, Sina Motalebi, and Hoder who arrived from Canada just the day before this meeting. It was exciting and also a bit 'strange' because it was the first time most of us were about to meet people whom we knew only by their writings. It kinda reminded me of the BBS meetings in Tehran about a decade ago.

The venue – Mash Bar in central London – was a good one even though the music was a bit louder than what I expected, and that forced us to raise our voices; but hey I guess it's the same in almost all bars and pubs isn't it? Pity Kash didn't show up, he was the one who suggested this venue! Where were you man?

One of the amazing things about this small group of people was the broad range of expertise, including Business, Banking, Anthropology, Music Production and Audio Engineering, Journalism, Sociology, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. With this much power we can potentially run a whole country :-)

We missed all those members who couldn't make it to the gathering. I understand it was difficult to attend for those of you who live outside London. Next time I will try to organise the blog meeting in a weekend with a one-month notice (or even earlier).

Hope you all enjoyed the night, now enjoy the photos!

Axe:

Well it was so enjoyable that I can't really remember the loudness of the music that Lord Provost mentioned indeed I was either so drunk or deeply in conversations with the others as each single one of them was very friendly and full of knowledge,
Perhaps we can have news coverage for next time as we are in a way in touch with BBC Persian and some TV channels that would help our little organisation grow up and attract more and more Persian students that would make a huge brain network.
Loads of thanks to Lord Provost that directed the gathering and the others who supported it with their coming.
