Azad University Oxford??

West Ender

Guys, I just can't believe this: Azad University has opened a branch in Oxford, and they're seriously going to take students from Iran and send them over there for higher education.

Before saying anything more, if all their educational services work as perfectly as their website, I'm sure their degree will be very well recognised around the world! Right now that I'm posting this article, part of their server has crashed, so instead of serving you web pages, it throws a huge chunk of old fashioned HTML code together with VBScript code into your browser window!!!

Considering the huge number of Iranian young students who come to the UK every year and pay huge sums of money for tuition fees, it isn't really difficult to read the minds of the owners of Azad University. Because it's in the UK, Azad university will be able to charge students a lot more, and that's big money for them. The only question is the quality of education students would receive here. Will it be more or less around the standards of their Iranian branch? Will they be able to hire Oxford lecturers to deliver lectures and tutorials? Time will reveal whether it's a joke or a serious business.

oh my, "Daneshgahe azade eslami vahede shahrestane Oxford" just sounds like an unbelievable JOKE to me!!! Would people pay for example £9,000 to AZAD university just to get a degree from the UK?

why should one go to Azad University in Oxford and not to, say, Oxford Brooks University, which, comparing to high-profile british universities, has much less entry requirements and easier to get in? (it has nothing to do with the University of Oxford)

Maybe they're trying to attract potential British students who want to study for example Iranian or oriental history or art or whatever. Even in this case, why would the British guy not study in Cambridge or Oxford (with a year of exchange study in University of Tehran)?

I can't see any customers for this university, apart from nouveau riche Iranian families who just want the name "UK" on their degree, and are willing to pay a huge sum of money for that.

Well, the only difference is, cultural and student life would be *very* different in Azad Uni Oxford branch, comparing to any other branch of Azad uni in Iran. That is the only advantage.

Parthisan:

there seems to be a strange problem! the web site is viewable when you use IE, but not Firefox! what's wrong?

I'm reading their site now to find out what they're trying to offer. Yes it sounds very funny, but before reading the site I can't really say if it's a joke or not.

Dr HaghTalab:

Dear West Ender and Nazanin
I am not a fan or a follower of Azad University but let me tell you some advantages of this job.
1-open the new world to young iranian and they can get their visa to uk.
2-As it is a free country every body can decide after a term or more to change the university.
3-Anyway you may be sure that a branch of Azad uni in oxford can be totally different from other doghoozabad from many point of views in oxford including the freedom for the students.
4-perhaps the Uni can use the professors of UK.
5-They are not so stupid to charge the studnts 9000 pounds ,you sure about that.
6-After a while they can learn both the professors and the students that the International standard what does it mean.
so how do you think??
Dr HaghTalab
