Interview with the vampire

Lord Provost

SPAM COMMENTS: A problem I deal with everyday, trying to keep the blog clean and tidy. Have to remove all the horrible spam comments left in both the weblog and the photoblog. Meanwhile I'm looking for decent solutions to keep the spam comments/links out of the blog without increasing the maintenance time e.g. having to approve every comment individually.

Now The Register has published an interview with one of these spammers, whose job is supposedly to spread spam-like links everywhere in order to attract customers both directly by clicking on spam links, and also by increasing the ranking of websites (aka Search Engine optimisation), taking advantage of the easy commenting features in blogs. It's amazing how much money they make in this spam business!
