Lovely days
The days have become so beautiful that I can't stop writing here! Considering the wet and iggy months we've had so far in this year, October has been very pleasant and definitely a good start for the new term.
In between lectures, I love walking with friends by the lake inside the campus watching all the happy students sitting on the green ground and in between colourful trees. Will we see this sense of freedom and happiness one day in the universities in Iran? How come different people with different backgrounds, ideologies, nationalities and religions can co-exist in this country so easily? I think the powerful elements in our country's government do not understand any form of tolerance not only in politics but also in people's lifestyles. Or maybe they understand it but they're afraid that a bit of tolerance in any form would suddenly take matters out of their dominant control. It's all about power and money isn't it?
I'm leaving the office to join my friends in the Jubilee cafe :)
Why do WE always pick on the goverment(s)???? Honey! take a good look at the people in the streets(of iran)! Ask them what/where/who is the problem? and none of them would sey: WE are the problem. We are all desperately looking for someone else to blame for what WE 've been responsible for, whole the way along, and that's been our hobby, our job(if you like)our ultimate achievement. Then ask yourself who these monstrous-faced people are? appearing endlessly in every single aspect of our nothing-left-to-a-pointless life,on our Media, Parliment, speaking rubbish on behalf of US,making Us laugh at each other, making Us hate each other, making Us mug each other stab each other to death...yet in a frame on Grannys' holy book shelves...and God! how hard it is to face the fact that they were Us! these are our fathers our mothers our cousins our neighbours they were US and we were not(and still aren't)bothered and God! how sad is this: smelling our s@#t to the end of its eternally existence instead of getting rid of it.We as our fathers'(who were their father's, who were their fathers'...) latest successfully branded products are the entirely-failed members to be of this smelly "left over society" called Iran(sadly!)and this production line seems to be unstoppable and No! we would never see not only the universities, but any other part of this years-ago-passed-away-body, turned into what you wished unless..Ummm!...Sorry! there is no unless.. at least WE can't think of any...WE are not programmed to...

I agree with part of your comment, there is definitely some cultural 'glitch' in our society. But I do not agree that we have to blaim all our existing problems on ourselves. My family, the majority of my friends (the absolute majority of them) are not at all comfortable with the imposed and enforced regulations in our country. All of the examples of monstrous looking creatures you brought ("on our Media, Parliment, speaking rubbish on behalf of US,making Us laugh at each other, making Us hate each other, making Us mug each other stab each other to death"), all of them are scarecrows put there not by you and me and our parents, but by a small monstrous minority who have access to endless amount of oil money and therefore have the means to do what they want.
If there is someone to blame, it's our parents generation who left us with all the mess we're experiencing now. I not only detest the current state of my country but am trying to learn from it and when it comes to me (hopefully) as a professional and also a mother, I will try my best not to put my steps in this bloody path.

Nice article Nazanin, I enjoyed reading it. It is very difficult to analyze the problems Roba and you mentioned because of the lack of statisitcs in Iran. Therefore, I reckon that these issues must be dealt with extreme caution in order not to offend or make unjustified comments.
I really hope that one day some experts will conduct some research to reveal how divided we are in terms of mentality, understanding and so forth...

And take a look at what an American woman, who's married to an iranian and lives in iran, thinks about US!

First I should say" hey Roba, you ... you are completely wrong" I am living in Iran now, really Iran is not like what you say and what you think...Not everything, but most of the things are okay,my sudents friends both girls and boys here in tehran university are very active and most of them happy, we dont care about politics anymore, since we are sientists or engineer, and do our duty in this field. thats it. politics is not our job. believe me..besides, i had alot of friends who studied in UK, they really were unhappy and and very depressed about the society...
about the US universities, the feeling is different.actually all of my friends are happy about them...
